PS3 FTP Server is essentially the very first FTP homebrew app that was created for the PlayStation 3. Although it proved to be very useful at the time, it also proved to be very buggy as well. With the start of the real PS3 Scene, people sharing what they have – I decided to code up this little, horribly buggy PS3 FTP server homebrew app.

How to Use PS3 FTP Server v0.1
To use PS3 FTP Server v0.1, follow these steps:
- Connect with your choice of FTP client – Preferred is the old “ftp” from the command line, however Filezilla works, allowing only one connection, and disabling PASV support.
- Use the IP address shown on the PS3 screen (make sure your net connection is up and running beforehand – wired is recommended for speed).
- Connect to that IP, port 21, use the username: FTPD12345, and set a password of your choice.
Important Notice:
Some of the flash contents are writable – be cautious as nobody is responsible for what you do to your PS3!
Limitations
- Can not write to dev_flash
- Can not rename files
- Buggy (random crashes, blame Sony!)
- Files larger than 4GB show as the difference (e.g., a 6GB file shows as “2GB”, or an 11GB file as “3GB”). It will download past 100%, just let it continue!
This app was quickly coded by someone who can’t code for the life of him. It mostly uses provided APIs, and the GUI is based off a sample. A small edit was made to the library to allow full access to the entire system. Enjoy!
Installing Instruction :
- For CFW (Custom Firmware):
- Ensure your PS3 is running a compatible version of CFW.
- Mount dev_blind on your PS3 before installation.
- If you don’t mount dev_blind, you will encounter an error during installation.
- Once you mount dev_blind, proceed to install the PS3 FTP Server as you would with any other package.
- For HEN (Homebrew Enabler):
- Ensure you are using a version of HEN that supports homebrew applications.
- Just like with CFW, you need to mount dev_blind first to avoid any errors during installation.
- Once mounted, proceed with the installation using the package manager, just like any other homebrew package.
Once the installation is complete, you can start using the PS3 FTP Server app and connect to your PS3 with your preferred FTP client.
